Practitioner and management capability
Designed for people responsible for developing and applying environmental and sustainability management procedures day to day.
Choose Level 6 for practitioner and management development. Choose Level 7 when your role has moved into strategic environmental leadership.
The qualifications sit at different framework levels, but the more important difference is the type of responsibility they are designed to develop.

ProQual does not specify Level 6 as a universal formal academic prerequisite for Level 7. An experienced professional may therefore be able to progress directly.
Direct entry only makes sense when your environmental knowledge, strategic responsibilities, evidence access and development objective genuinely support Level 7 study.
RQF Level 6 is the same framework level used by bachelor-level qualifications, but the ProQual Level 6 Diploma is not a university degree.
RQF Level 7 is the same framework level used by master’s-level qualifications, but the ProQual Level 7 Diploma is not itself a university master’s degree.
Both diplomas can support wider professional development, but professional bodies assess their own criteria separately.
ISEP membership depends on professional stage and evidence. CEnv is a separate professional registration through a licensed body.
MCIOB is a separate Chartered Membership process with its own qualification, experience and Professional Review requirements.
Not universally. Level 7 is higher and larger, but the correct qualification is the one that matches your role, evidence and development objective.
It is smaller and set at a lower framework level, but it remains a substantial professional qualification with competency requirements.
Potentially. ProQual does not state Level 6 as a universal formal prerequisite for Level 7, but suitability still matters.
Level 7 is twice the TQT size of Level 6: 1,200 TQT compared with 600 TQT. TQT describes size, not a simple difficulty multiplier.
No. CEnv is a separate professional registration process.

No. They are regulated ProQual diplomas in environmental management and sustainability, not NVQs.
No. Both include competency-based outcomes that require suitable practical evidence.
Either may fit depending on the depth of environmental work. General Health & Safety responsibility alone should not be treated as evidence of Level 7 environmental practice.
Use a suitability review based on your current responsibilities, evidence access, experience and career goal.
